 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Based on past reports, there seems to be a new (?) parking area here, along the old Rock Rimmon Road in Danville, just east of the junction of Emerald and Opal Drives. Room for a few cars. There’s a sign at the start of the road for “Rock Rimmon Trailâ€. |

From the parking, I walked up the road for less than 50 yds. and turned onto the orange-blazed trail. Very easy ascent for the most part except for a left turn at 0.35 mi. The blazed route turns here, but the footbed keeps going straight. I went straight on the way up, realized I’d run out of trail, then just bushwhacked up to the summit.
Still lots of broken glass on top, but some of the graffiti looks painted over and it appears trash it being picked up. There are old fire tower footings and some iron remnants at the high point.
On the way down, I was able to follow the blazed route all the way, which starts on the old Jeep road, then bears left into the woods.
A short and sweet hike, just a mile round-trip. |
