Trails
Trails: Signal Ridge Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, August 31, 2019
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The Sawyer River Rd lot had 7 cars when I arrived at 6:15am. It was overflowing onto the road when I left at noon. The road itself was in great shape, although a partially busted tree is leaning out towards the road which will be a problem when it decides to let go
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Easy rock hop
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail was in great shape. Some minor mud at the start but easy to step around
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I saw a few pups starting up the trail when I was on my way out. Should be an easy trail for them, there’s no steep scrambles.
Bugs
Bugs: Barely any, although I had a face full of cobwebs more than once early on.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: I lost the all my stress from the previous week somewhere on the ridge. If you find it, please leave it there.

Comments
Comments: Great hike! First two miles is a breeze then it starts steadily going up. It never gets crazy steep, but it never lets up.
I got started early to beat the crowds. I didn’t see a single soul until 3/4 of the way up when one fella passed me. Right as I was cresting the summit, he was heading back down.

I had the summit and tower to myself for 10 min or so then a group of four joined me who had just finished #48 of the 4000s. Great group, very friendly. I passed a steady line of people headed up while I was in my way down.

There are no views to speak of until the outlooks on Signal Ridge about 1/2 mile before the summit. The look down into Crawford is breathtaking. The 360° view from the tower is nothing short of amazing. Beautiful day and I will definitely do this one again!
2:54 up and 2:41 down (and :30 or so on the summit)
