Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Mt. Israel , NH
Trails
Trails: Wentworth Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, September 1, 2019
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty if people park right at Mead Base. I started with just 4 other cars. Came back to a full lot and cars parked both head in and parallel. When you parallel park behind someone head in, it makes for a very tight exit of the head in car.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Hop overs. Non-issue here.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Could be blazed better. Trail seems to be eroding in many places
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Easy enough for dogs with some water. Bring extra for them and just make sure they are conditioned to hike 5 miles or more.
Bugs
Bugs: Plenty, you are out in the woods after all.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: NA... But I didn’t look at the Kiosk at the trail head.

Comments
Comments: Nice to revisit this underrated hike to Mt Israel. The trail seems more eroded from my first visit in 2013. A few places where people have cut paths around tricky parts, is soft and might continue to erode.

Enjoyed 30 minutes on the summit alone today... Seems unheard of in New Hampshire. All in all, a great day.

Trail heads were over flowing onto the road on the way home. Be mindful as you drive out.
