the one on Caste tr over the Israel river easily hopped. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
everything in good shape. the orange? blazing on The Cornice could use a splash up, but the cairns are easily followed. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
well, i saw some. there was one high up on the Caps Ridge tr that didn't seem to be having much fun. other hikers were concerned for the pup's safety. if your dog isn't experienced on the harsh northern presi rocks, leave 'em at home. |

| Bugs: |
a few mosquitoes down low in the afternoon. |

solo redline hike. those rocks on The Cornice (section between Caps Ridge & Castle) kicked my butt. so much so, that i opted to go down the Castle trail. i'm glad i had gloves for some skin/finger protection. but plan was to continue on to Randolph path and down Israel Ridge, but i was moving so slow, that i decided to shoot for straight down. I had the Castles all to myself, looking down at them, it almost looks like an alien landscape. overall, a great day, however, the best time to visit the northern presies is in the winter, when all those sharp rocks are covered with snow! #winterhiking |
