Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Straightforward rock hopping for the actual water crossings. Much of the upper trail had mud as expected, but dry rocks to step on. WAY better than I had feared!!!
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Thank you to the folks who did pruning up on Davis path to Isolation. A bit more pruning would be helpful towards the actual summit of Isolation.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: This is a great alternative/backpacking approach for Isolation, if you have the appropriate gear. In July we turned back from Glen Boulder because the conditions were not safe (too hot/dry) for one of my dogs. Going up ammo with its pools and waterfalls, refilling with water at Lake of the clouds, then down isolation and Rocky branch with plenty of water available was a fantastic alternative, particularly with the campsite at the junction of isolation East and Davis path Only real hazard for my pups today was moose poop lol
Bugs
Bugs: None. Oh wait except for the spider that crawled up my leg at camp EW
