 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Off of Success Pond Road, drove 0.77 mi. down a wide dirt road. The unnamed road departs Success Pond Road slightly N/NE of the peak and across from what is marked as a gravel pit on the topo maps. Parked by an obvious old grassy gravel logging road that headed south towards the peak. |

Scrappy little bugger.. but it's done. The route from Success Pond Road is MUCH shorter than trying to get this peak via hiking trails.
Walked south via grassy logging roads that became increasingly "choked" as it got steeper. Moose herd paths through the brushy growth helped. My route was heading a bit too southerly (towards Page Pond), but I was gaining elevation. At 2200' I headed westerly, skirting the pond and swamp, aiming for the north side of Trident Mtn. which had the "less steep" gradient lines. Woods were scrappy.
Summit was obvious and a bit open... a relief.
Headed out via a different line. Took a N/NE line keeping to the best woods I could find, until I dropped back into my grassy / gravel road around 1900'.
Really didn't take long. It just felt long as it was scrappy and I was solo :-) |
