Comments
Comments: Tough trip today with trail breaking over a 1.5 mile section staring around 3000 feet in 2-6 inches of powder in a previously partially broken out trail. Exposed rocks, styrofoam and ice on the ridge-line leading over to Adams but the trip up Adams was easy with mostly styrofoam/rime ice. Some ice. Very windy today-sustained 40-50 mph (?)threatening to blow us over, in and out of clouds. Madison also styrofoam, easy ascent but also with very strong winds. Descent down Vally Way was tough over the top 1.5 miles as there were a lot of forces to fight as the trail was gone, 12-18 inches of loose powder, the downhill slope (of course) but with a side slope lie that wanted to throw you off the trail and into the trees. Lots of drama up there today but WHAT A GREAT DAY!! Trail certainly better now that we snowshoed over it all but after tomorrow, I suspect we'll have a new mess.
