A clear, tiny brook crossing the Alpine Garden Trail seemed like a good water source, but the AMC Guide warns of possible contamination. |

My objective wasn't the summit but some of those little-used trails near it. Even on an uncommon clear day at the top, I had Camel Trail, T. Crossover and Alpine Garden Trail to myself. Not many flowers left on the last, but it's still a pleasant, nearly level walk around the east side of the summit. |
