Date of Hike: Sunday, August 25, 2019
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at the Glen Ellis Falls lot ($5) plenty of parking in the morning (big surprise, as we were pretty late)
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Very minor today
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Compared to some trails that we have been on lately- all of these were great. (just so happy to have obvious, well marked trail- haha!) A few step-over blow downs and the typical mud going towards the peak. The trail gets pretty close/narrow in places but it is totally enjoyable, especially in such dry conditions
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Didn't see many! Our dog had a blast- but it should be noted that there is a pretty good scramble (the only one) prior to arriving at Glen Boulder. She rarely hesitates- but we needed to give her a little boost. If you have a timid dog, they wouldn't make it. Also- bring lots of water. There is a Spring on Glen Boulder trail, but very few places for your pup to grab a drink.
Bugs
Bugs: None!

Comments
Comments: Stunning weather. This was an incredible hike. Others seemed to agree, as we saw abut 10-12 people on the trail to Isolation. (so not packed by any means- but more than we thought we might see!)
A hike to save for a clear day- as the views are just mind blowing. Saw a ton of nice people today and enjoyed chatting. Took us exactly 8 hours (includes all breaks- we didn't take any long ones but we did stop to chat, feed the dog, etc) so this is not a short day.
Avoided Rocky Branch (had planned to take on return) as I had heard reliable reports of trail being washed out and hard to follow.I can not verify- but will attest to the fact that the path we took is 100% straightforward, despite having significant vertical gain on the "downhill" portion of the trip :-)
