This is an interesting hike and a neat area to find a random ravine. It gets its name from the ice that hangs around all year and we still found a few spots in early August.
The hike through the ravine is challenging at time. The boulders do not have the best placement and footing. Also, due to the lack of full sun getting into some areas of the ravine you will mind that wet moss has overgrown some of the areas of the trail. This adds to the difficulty. The trail and boulders are quite slick even on a dry day.
I do not recommend this hike on a rainy day or if the ground is wet from a previous storm.
The waterfall side trail is cool and we found one cave in the ravine that was fun to explore.
This hike earns its spot on the Terrifying 25 list! |
