Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No problem. Most were dry.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Ranger Tr nicely blazed to the warden's garage. From there to junction with the Lambert Ridge Tr there were no blazes. I guess they ran out of paint. The Ranger Tr has a few blowdowns but easy to get over. The ledge slabs to the junction were moist but even with older boots I had no problem(might be a problem coming down). From the junction to tower was steep. Wooden ladder and iron rungs are not hard to go up or down. Coming down Lambert Ridge Tr was steep and wet in the first section of the trail. Middle section was somewhat flat with some mud. Ledges were dry with some nice views. Bottom section to trailhead was a little wet and steep but the footing was good.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: None in the morning. Annoying in the afternoon about halfway down the Lambert Ridge Tr.

Comments
Comments: Overall a nice and pleasant hike. Went up the Ranger Tr due to the possibility of the upper ledge slabs being wet. The slabs in places were like walking on a cement sidewalk(much the same as the Davis Path between Crawford Spur and Mt Parker Tr). The first 2 miles of the Ranger Tr to the Wardens Garage is an easy almost flat walk. I was very tempted to take this trail back down due to the easy walk out to the trailhead. Glad I resisted because I would have missed the nice and open ledge walk on the Labert Ridge Tr. The wooden ladder and iron rung area after the junction was interesting but totally duable. Views from the summit tower were amazing. Met about 20 Thru hikers while I was going down on the Lambert Ridge Tr. All looked well and happy. Right before the ledges there is a short steep hike up. Nothing serious but when you are tired it can be kind of a bummer. The ledge walk is really nice with some amazing views of Smarts Mt. Bottom part of trail is steep with switchbacks to ease the steepness.
