| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Gale River Road closed. Parking at Five Corners was fine. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Ice - Blue, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
A few open drainages. Snow bridges on stream crossings have gone out, but cold weather has allowed some ice bridges to start building. Crossings not a problem right now. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
No blowdowns to speak of. Signage seemed okay, though upper Garfield Trail sign is under snow. Blazing evident, but needs touching up, especially higher up. Trail corridor is generally good - thanks to the maintainer. |

| Comments: |
Gale River Road barebootable -- three bridges project not yet complete, but bridges very passable. Beginning of Garfield Trail has scant new snow over ice and hardpack - barebootable. More snow depth up the trail required snowshoes. Trail had evidently seen traffic this weekend, but tracks were more and more drifted over as one climbed --- final .2 mile was a bit obscure. |
