I was the 2nd car in the small lot by the cement fish hatchery at 8:30. I know on the trail were electing to park in the first lot on the right, just 50 yards down the road. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
As I have seen from previous posts - very encroaching. Not much you can do for most of the first half unless you have a weed whacker, with tall grass, raspberries, and ferns. However, for the rest of trail, I pruned so now its like a freeway, for at least a while. :-) Two blow-downs to note, both creating herd trails. One after the Bunnel's intersection with Kilkenny and in between the cabin and the summit. There are some others, but easily stepped over. |

#41. Loved this trip. Congrats to Jim who I met early on the trail. It was his 48, but 2nd go-round so 96! Way to go. As mentioned, lots of pruning all the way in and out but if it recently rained, expect to get soaked in the first 1/2 mile or so due to the encroachment. Surprised to see so many on this remote mountain. A group of young hikers and the chaperones (14}, I am guessing and looked like they were doing a 2-3 day trip. A handful of others coming and going. Was amazed to actually see so many ferns, running almost the entire way to the very top. Never seen any at this altitude on the other 48's. |
