Comments
Comments: What a day! What a hike! We are slower than most, somewhat due to one son's autism impacting his motor planning, somewhat because we like to savor views, somewhat because I'm a certified chicken with Terrifying 25-scale steeps and tricky descents. But reports were that S. Baldface ledges were dry and manageable, and so we went for it to save the extra 1.0 mi/100' gain vs. Slippery Brook. Glad we did and glad fellow hikers moved gently around our/my slow pace.

Trail's in great shape. N. Baldface had some darker clouds that quickly blew away, and the summits were a little windy but nothing too tippy. IMHO the initial 0.9 descent down N. Baldface on Baldface Circle Tr. had enough tricky drops that I was glad it was dry. Bummed to see logging activity down low; 3-4 slash roads cut into the side of Slippery Brook and (I think) Bicknell Ridge that rather mar the beauty of the woods. Stopped at Emerald Pools on ascent, kind of buggy, skipped it on descent so we could get done and dinnered.

Special thanks to a woman everyone called Suzanne whose quote of the day resonated with all that hikers are and do. As she could see me grappling with fear when beginning the steep ledge ascent, she offered to hold my poles, said she's back me up if I fell, and when I thanked her, said: "That's what we're put on earth to be - here for each other." Yes.
