Comments
Comments: It was not a quality weather day, but we made the best of it. Opted out of a return trip from Wildcat D down the very steep Wildcat Ridge trail, and took the very moderate ski slope (If you want the easy path up- TAKE THE SKI SLOPE, NOT WILDCAT RIDGE. it is probably a boring ascent, but would make it a pretty easy hike. Wildcat Ridge to the D peak is serious business. Consider me to be the one to warn you, this trail will kick your ass.) The ridge between D and A is easier, but never a boring moment, especially in the rain.
It rained. It was cloudy. Typical day in the whites. We made it to the ski lodge before the skies opened up, which was pretty great. After a quick downpour the sun came out (momentarily) and we dashed down 16 to the Pinkham Notch center, and got on Lost pond trail to avoid death by insane drivers. Made it back to the car in just under 7 hours, even with a stop at the lodge to avoid the lightning.
