Comments
Comments: An early start up Wildcat Ridge Trail from Glen Ellis parking lot. In case you don't know, the trail is IMMEDIATELY steep. Periodically you will come to rock slabs and cliff faces which afford magnificent views of the Mt. Washington, across Pinkham Notch. The steep stuff lets up after you hit Wildcat E. From then on its a pretty routine ridge hike with occasional views of the surrounding vistas. Wildcat A is the payoff - a perfect place to rest for a few minutes and soak up the sights of Crawford Notch way below. The hike down to the hut, while steep, is well trodden and easy to navigate. Nineteen Mile Brook Trail is a little long, but gently descends back to route 16. The whole thing took about seven hours total - and that includes a trip to Crawford Notch Hut to purchase a patch and some freshly made cake. Not only was the hike fun, we also met loads of friendly AT hikers going both North and South.
