 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty of parking at this lesser-used trailhead. Be warned, this parking lot is always very buggy. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
The one water crossing at the wilderness boundary is very easy right now in extremely dry (low water) conditions. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Flat Mountain Pond Trail is in good condition with no blowdowns or significant maintenance issues other than very minor brushing needed.
I worked on the lower 1/3rd of the McCrillis Trail, especially in the low-elevation open hardwood forest, where many have reported that the trail is hard to follow. Using downed logs and brush and strategic brushing, I attempted to make the trail easier to follow for the rest of the summer and fall, however it will still be very challenging during the winter. Please note there are faded yellow blazes that are still followable in this section. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Great trail for dogs, didn't see any today though. |
|
 | Bugs: |
A bit mosquito-y, mostly at the trailhead. Saw a couple of deerflies out too. |

Flat Mountain Pond Trail is in awesome shape, McCrillis needs some brushing before the end of the season. Overall an amazing day to be out exploring these beautiful trails. |
