Had wanted to do this traverse for a while, never had a car spot. Big thanks to Dave and Tim for making this happen. Absolutely perfect day, low humidity, blue skies, and decent visibility. Trails were all in really good shape, thanks to all who have maintained them. Not very much mud at all, what was there was easily avoidable or bridged. Lots of people up until Zeta Pass, after that we saw maybe 3 people. Got to the ledges of Surprise just in time to catch sunset. Really enjoyed this hike, lots of different footpaths, very rugged ascents and descents, with views spread out along the way to always offer something new. Anyone attempting this traverse should know that at least right now there is pretty much no water anywhere on this hike, so plan accordingly. |
