Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Mt. Carrigain, NH
Trails
Trails: Signal Ridge Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, August 3, 2019
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Sawyer River road repairs from last year are holding strong. Compared to what I saw back then, I'm very impressed with how the Forest Service was able to patch things together again. The roadway remains very passable.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Brooks are flowing steadily, but low enough that the soles of your shoes will be the only things getting wet.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail was in good shape. No significant blow-downs. All modern puncheon is in good shape and very serviceable. The odd bit of "corduroy" logs is steadily rotting away into nothingness. Some mud in the lower elevations; do your part to combat trail erosion, as always.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Several pups out having the times of their lives.
Bugs
Bugs: Mosquitos were downright homicidal in the lower elevations as evening fell. Bug juice is your friend.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: One camouflage bandana. Should be able to be found at the trailhead sign.

Comments
Comments: Last year, I hiked up in the middle of a huge, thick cloud. Wow, what I missed back then. Views are superlative, and make the rough going on the way up worthwhile.

Photos and a more detailed write-up are on my blog.
