Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty of room around noon. It must have busy in the morning as there were a couple cars on the side that were all the way down to the no parking sign.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails well maintained by BRATTS. Cool stone work for drainage and steps.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: The ledges on summit are beautiful but hot, like asphalt parking lot. Only water I saw was at the bottom of trail.
Bugs
Bugs: I used bug spray, wearing shorts and short sleeves, and had no issues. Occasional deer fly would check me out for a minute or so, and then move on. No ticks found, and I had plenty of blueberry bushes rubbing my ankles off trail.
Lost and Found

Comments
Comments: Mostly dry open trail.
Some blueberry bushes have had the really big ones culled on a first pass, but PLENTY of fruit left. Your chances of finding less picked bushes still improves as you move towards South Piper. The bushes around the off-trail herd paths to ledges are still largely untouched by other human bears.
North Piper ledges are like a parking lot, I got overheated picking there, but found recuperative intermittent shade as soon as I started towards South Piper. Able to sit in pine tree shade on South Piper ledges until it cooled down a bit more. Really quite pleasant conditions hiking back down into the sun set.
