Comments
Comments: "A Trail of Two Opposites". Black Mt Tr is mostly soil with little rock and Iron Mt Tr is mostly rock up top with a little soil. Black Mt Tr is a continuous up with some steep while Iron Mt Tr is flat at first with some interesting steep up top. That said the views on both were hard to find. On Irom Mt there is an outlook to the right about 3/4 of the way up with views into Pinkham and Carter Notches. Best view on Iron Mt is from the field at the beginning of the trail. Views at summit of Black Mt are limited to views of South Baldface and Carter Notch. Best view is from the cabin of Mt Washington and Boot Spur. Only went to the summit of Iron Mt. If you continue to the South Ledges the views are very nice and well worth the extra effort.
