Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: The two lower stream crossings were good areas for dogs to cool off. The stream crossing indicated at 2.5 miles in was dry, so keep that in mind and fill up extra water for the dog at the second stream crossing 1.2 miles into the hike to get you the rest of the way up.
Bugs
Bugs: Minor in the lower parts of the trail. Not noticeable in the upper parts of the trail.

Comments
Comments: It was a hot day, but very pleasant at the peak! It was moderately busy; saw perhaps 30 other hikers throughout the day. Very clear views from the summit. Took a wrong turn off of the summit and hiked down to Garfield Pond, adding about 650 feet of elevation gain to get back to the summit to make the correct turn. There is no signage at the summit so remember to bear right when descending! Met a friendly guy from Boston and chatted with him as we left the summit, so were a bit distracted. Once I saw the pond I knew we had made the wrong turn. All in all a pleasant day and the Garfield Trail is incredibly mild.
