Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All brook crossings are currently very low or totally dry - no issues.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Maintainers for Mt. Tecumseh Trail have done an excellent job (thanks!). Rock "staircase" from the 1.1 mile mark (ski trail view point) to the Sosman junction is a thing of beauty. If you want a StairMaster workout, this is your hike! Mt. Tecumseh Trail blazed in yellow. Sosman in blue.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw a few today - should be a relatively easy hike for most dogs (could be more difficult when water levels are higher as Tecumseh Brook can be a tough crossing).
Bugs
Bugs: Other than the one horse fly that seemed to follow us for about a mile, bugs stayed home today.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: N/A

Comments
Comments: Interesting start to the hike as a guy was dropping a deuce about 25 yards from the trailhead along the banks of Tecumseh Brook by the roadway. Not cool - come on ... can't find a spot a bit more secluded away from the Brook?! Other than that unfortunate sighting, great short hike to complete Tecumseh in all 4 seasons. Trails were in terrific shape, especially the impressive staircase on the upper half before Sosman junction. A lot of people talk about the staircase up the Bigelows in Maine (Fire Warden's Trail), but having recently hiked those mountains, I think this one is superior.

Saw quite a lot of people (and groups) on the trails today. Not a surprise as Tecumseh is a great 4k for hikers of most ages and abilities, especially when brook crossings are as low as they are now. Nice easterly views to the Tripyramids at the summit. Hot day with minimal breeze, hazy views, and virtually no bugs.
