As soon as we stopped, flies swarmed the car, inside and out. We left all windows open and an open jar of No Bite Me on the console; they were all gone when we returned 45 minutes later! |

Walked up the road to the end, where there was a big clearing and turnaround (Oops! Should have trusted Brian Bond’s directions!). Started our bushwhack here, entering the woods at a break in the bushes and heading northwest toward the ridge. Woods cleared up a bit although we did hit a few overgrown areas on the way up. Mostly moderate going with one steep section. A series of ridges and bumps before determining the actual highpoint, per Bryan’s map coordinates, where we hung a new peak register jar! Took a direct heading to the car. Lots of tall grass and swampy areas. Luckily about 2/3’s of the way down, we remembered the road walk so adjusted our course and popped out onto the road not too far south of the clearing. |
