Trails: Woods road, bushwhack
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Monday, July 22, 2019
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked on Pine Hill Road at a pullout for a woods road. If you are driving towards Connor Pond on Pine Hill Road, the pullout is on the right, shortly past the Chapel road intersection. (If you pass it, there's a 2nd pullout that appears to go nowhere, followed by a red house.) You can further verify the spot by noting the woods road goes around a corner, and within a hundred yards is climbing steeply while curving to the left.

Bugs
Bugs: Yep. I was getting pummeled enough at the parking area to put on the bugnet hat. Went full permethrin suit, socks over cuffs. Didn't pick up any ticks.

Comments
Comments: A local hiker mentioned this parking spot, as a good way to bushwhack to Oak Mtn.
I took a bearing from the parking lot to the peak. I followed the woods road, climbing pretty steeply at first. Then levels off. I came to a fork and the compass said take a left. Shortly after that, I passed a fire pit in the middle of the road.
When I got to the steeper climbing, it was obvious my bearing was off to the right, I could see enough of the curve of the mountain to give myself a new bearing, and that got me there.
I hunted around for the high point, I think I must have bagged it. Then I hunted around for the viewpoint Zachary mentioned in his report. Not sure I found the same viewpoint, but the one I found was awesome. I went less than a hundred yards down the southwest face, found a blueberry path to the view. Very cool. Primitive.
