Comments
Comments: Hadn't really planned to hike South Twin, but it was so close when I arrived at the hut that I had to do it. That is a serious .8 miles, with lots of wet rocks that tried to kill me multiple times. Views from the summit are fantastic. Wanted to add North, but had a time limit and wasn't sure I could meet it. Garfield Ridge is rugged from Galehead to Garfield, with lots of up and down (mostly up) climbing, including a section below the campsite where running water turned the trail into a waterfall you had to climb up through. The last half mile or so is quite rocky and steep, but the views of the Pemi Wilderness are worth it. Garfield Trail was a relatively easy walk out, with the exception of the bugs. Busy day on the ridge on a gorgeous day in the Whites.
