Water Crossing Notes: All easily hopped
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I know they like to keep wilderness trails primitive, but a few cairns and splashes of paint on North Slide (and to a lesser degree South) would help a lot; there is absolutely nothing for guidance until about halfway up, and from there it's not much better. There is at least a large cairn marking the exit of the slide at the top. The rest of the trail has an obvious footpath, blazing really unnecessary.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: Not bad for most of the trip, but they were relentless at the summit of North Tripyramid and upper reaches of the slides.

Comments
Comments: I was looking for a challenging hike, and North Slide didn't disappoint. It is really steep and rough, with some steep slab to maneuver around. Lower end was wet in places, which made choosing a line important. Upper portion is a little easier, just working around a lot of loose rock. South Slide wasn't as bad, just lots of loose gravel and rocks that forces foot discipline. The traverse of the ridge is relatively easy, with some mud but nothing crazy. Quite a bit of mud between South Slide and Livermore Trail, but all manageable. Livermore Trail is a dirt/gravel road the whole way, so it's a pretty easy walk in without fighting rocks and roots. Lots of folks on the ridge and on Livermore Trail, far less on the slides. Absolutely beautiful day to be out, even if the views are underwhelming from the peaks themselves. Views from the tops of the slides are pretty good, though.
