| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Lot only had one car in it upon my arrival (9am). Only one or two cars on my exit (3pm). |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
All water crossings were low and easily rock-hoppable |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Bunnell Notch and Killkenny leading to Cabot is very well maintained. Killkenny and Unknown Pond back to the lot has quite a few blowdowns that could be taken care of but nothing too difficult to manage. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Brought my doggo for his first NH48 but didn't see any others. |
| Bugs: |
Biblical. Mosquitos down low. Black flies up top. 100% DEET helped but the mosquitos enjoyed flying into my ear canals and eyes. It was crazy annoying and by the end of the day there was a constant stream of obscenities spewing forth from my mouth. As a result I had my fastest overall pace per mile of all of 38 of the NH48 I've done so far. My kingdom for a breeze to keep them at bay.... |

| Comments: |
One of the easier hikes so far, bugs not withstanding. Views from the Horn were ok but the humidity softened the distant peaks |
