Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Friday, July 5, 2019
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking was good and about 1/2 full at 9:00am. No fee.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: There are 5 water crossings. The lowest (where Rocky Branch Trail meets Isolation Trail) required a bit of thought, but was rock-hoppable. Poles were helpful. The upper 4 crossings were more straight-forward.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Significant stretches of the trail were very muddy. You can avoid stepping in deep mud but you will get dirty regardless. Other stretches of the trail we were walking on rocks with a small stream down the middle of the trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: We saw a few dogs. The lack of steep sections makes this a good dog choice if they are okay with the distance.
Bugs
Bugs: It was warm (70F) and humid. The bugs were mildly annoying. Some of our group had many bites during the day, others got out with about 6 bites. Two groups on the trail had head nets, but the rest did not.
Lost and Found

Comments
Comments: The trail had virtually no steep sections and very little up and down (just up), which makes it a great alternative to the Glen Boulder Trail/Slide Peak route (even though this way is about 2.4 miles longer). The summit view of Mt. Washington is great, but there are few other views the entire hike.
