Terrible. I probably applied 7 times. Still got bitten pretty badly. Bumped into a women being led out to Zealand hut with a swollen face from bites. Long sleeves and pants are recommended. It’s a bit of hell out there |

Finally got to do the Bonds traverse. All trails are well marked or obvious, and these trails are heavily trafficked in the summer. Nothing much to report for others except the bug section above. I recommend as full coverage as possible even at 85 degrees. You can just hear the buzzing of bugs throughout the forest, which is unusual in my last few years hiking the Whites. Wet spring and all I guess |
