Redlining hike. Gordon Pond trail and the falls are hidden gems. Although the trail is a little Jekyll and Hyde ish. Long stretches of beautiful trail with nice soft footing, inter spaced with sections of unavoidable deep mud. Poor Tucker was actually doggy paddling to get out of one deceiving hole. I almost had to pull him out. Kinsman Ridge was muddy as well with some major creep in some areas. Kudos to the trail maintainer for Gordon Pond. A few areas could be difficult to follow but strategically placed blazes make things easy. FYI the old Giovani's building is gone. I only mention this because I used it as a landmark for my ride/pick up. There is parking there although it was full with swimmers with a large party going on down in the creek which I would have joined if not for perfect timing on the pickup. Took us exactly 5 hours with a short lunch stop on Wolf. |
