| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Fairly large lot on Sawyer River Rd 2 miles from 302. We were the 5th or 6th car upon arrival at 8:15am. Lot looked full when we returned at 3pm. Sawyer River Rd is a dirt road, but in good condition and suitable for most vehicles. |

Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |

| Water Crossing Notes: |
All crossings are rather easy at this time given the limited rainfall these past few days. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail maintenance crew (of about 9 - 10) coming down SRT during our ascent were working on clearing out numerous waterbars. Overall, trail in very good shape from trailhead to summit. Fairly recent (last 3-5 years) trail relocations can potentially be a bit tricky to follow if not paying attention. Yellow blazes are scarce and limited to lower part of SRT. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Easy to moderate trail from trailhead to summit good for most dogs with numerous water sources over first 2-3 miles. A few well-behaved dogs on the trail today. |
|
| Bugs: |
After a bug-free hike earlier this week up the Osceolas, the recent trail reporters for Carrigain weren't kidding in that the mosquitos in particular (black flies as well) are relentless and very aggressive throughout this entire hike. Bug spray (deet) didn't seem to help. It was a very hot humid day with still air which didn't help. |
