Plenty of parking in the main lot near the gondola lift. You may get lucky if you want to park further up toward the resort - though I'm not sure it's really allowed. |

Evening/night hike to catch a sunset and to see if I could view any fireworks. Got up to North Peak around 8:15 and was treated to a phenomenal sunset on the Sunset Loop...go figure :) From there I came back down to the top of the gondola, pulled up a chair on the deck of the snack bar and waited for the fireworks. The view wasn't ideal - and they were pretty small from up there anyhow - so I started back down while listening to the distant cracks and getting a peek every once in a while. Really cool moon sliver after the sun went down also.
The 'hiking' trails here are ski trails/service roads. There are no big challenges with footing but going up takes a little bit of extra effort due to slippage and going down you are prone to rolling on the rocks. Walking just off to the side eliminates all that. One the plus side there really is no question where you are in terms of navigation and there is no tall grass or underlying who-knows-what that you get on the ski trails.
