Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All easy
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trail is in very good shape. Nicely built and maintained, one of the best I have seen in the Whites. I pruned lightly all the way up as there was minor overhangs. Most of the waterbars need to be dug out a bit. Little leaves, but lots of gravel and loose rocks. I normally kick them free, but it will require some tools
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: Black flies at the top (seems to be the theme for everybody), but the breeze kept them at bay.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found a down jacket just yards from the summit. Somebody hung it on a tree. I was going to leave it on the sign below, but I figured nobody would come for it. Email me and describe it and I will mail it to you.

Comments
Comments: No. 35. Took 3:25 rt. As mentioned, beautifully maintained trail all the way. Saw 2 bear cubs on the return, one went up a try and the other I spotted already up one, 150' from me, right before the last stream crossing near the parking lot. I made significant noise to scare them as I did not see the mother and did not want to stumble onto her with her cub so close.

Nearly half way you get to what the AMC guide says is the old logging road, makes sense as it is so straight. Reminds me a lot of the latter part of the Signal Ridge Trail up Carrigain. Straight as the eye can see. There was a few $@^#* grumblings from me as you kept thinking it was reaching the Sosmon Trail and it went up and on, up and on. LOL

Beautiful views, I was pleasantly surprised at how many 4,000 peaks you could pick out. The Osceolas, the Tripyramids, Passaconoway, Whiteface, Hancock, etc.
