|Hiking Trail Conditions Report|
||Mt. Tom, Mt. Field, Mt. Avalon, NH|
||Avalon Trail, A-Z Trail, Mt. Tom Spur, Willey Range Trail|
|Date of Hike:
||Wednesday, June 26, 2019|
|Parking/Access Road Notes:
||Parking at Crawford notch certainly has changed a lot in the last 10 years. Looks more like Costco as opposed to a trailhead. |
||Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail |
|Water Crossing Notes:
||Water crossings were fine. |
|Trail Maintenance Notes:
||Moderate-to-bad bugs above 3700'. Biting black flies, mosquitos too. |
|Lost and Found:
||Easy rock hopping ascent, and even some dirt on the way up to Mount Tom. The "views" up there are a laugh-and-a-half. Mount Field was beautiful. Lovely 0.9 mile ascent from junction to junction. Lots of bare, slabby rocks to walk up. The descent from Field was rough - total rock garden. Avalon is just a gem. Made the whole loop worth it. Incredible views into Crawford Notch and the Southern Presidentials. |
Trails are wet and have running water in places.
