Comments
Comments: Camp Brook Mountain & Shatney Mountain – Northwest Peak (South Camp Brook)

From our parking area with Camp Brook Mountain being northeast of the road and Shatney Mountain – Northwest Peak being southwest of the road we decided to hit Camp Brook first.

That said we started bushwhacking north heading town the summits west running ridge in open woods at moderate grade, ran into a deer tree-stand with the owner’s name attached nearby, followed head path and found a moose bone, skirted some muddy areas with some up and downs.

Once west of the summit we turned east with some more ups and downs as we hit the southern end and turned north following the summit to its northern end and the recognized high point. On our return trip back to the truck we dropped east side, turned south in nice woods, picked up an old woods road and drainage turning southwest and back to the truck.

After a quick drink we were now of to Shatney Mountain – Northwest Peak starting off on an old woods road heading south to its top, turned southeast, dropped down a bit, skirted a swamp area and a larger bump picking up some older woods roads, some bushwhack turning west, again to skirt the larger bump, dropped down to the col and crossed an old woods road heading southwest to the summits to the summits north running ridge.

Once on the ridge we turned south and soon hit the recognized high point. For our return trip we decided to go over the bump we skirted on the way in finding more moose bones.

Nice adventure clocking in 4.5 mile of bushwhacking and 1250’ of elevation gain +/-
