Beautiful day to hike this and likely anywhere else. Large amounts of mud in several places but not a problem unless you are wearing anything but decent waterproof boots. First 3K for my 8 year old twins so decided to do the quicker and less difficult West Ridge Trail which I have not done in over 30 years. They loved it and started asking about hiking the 4K's which of course made my day. They are not ready for the 4K's yet so I will hike the east side with them and several other 52WAV peaks and maybe by end of summer....we'll see. We all enjoyed a conversation with a gentleman (Wayne) on the peak that said he manned the firetower on Cardigan for 22 years up till it was closed. |
