| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Haystack Road is still gated. They have a grader there. Looks like they had a gradeall go through last week and dig an entirely new drainage swale on the west side of Haystack Rd. It's still pretty wet and the area around tentsite 10/11 is very soft with sinkholes. Significantly drier than two weeks ago, so it wont be long now. |

Today's goal was to bushwhack the North Face Slide on N. Twin. Thanks to 1HH and Bryan for beta.
Started from the gate at haystack rd, to FR304, to 304A. Growing in but easy to follow. Crossed unnamed brook and found the faint remnants of the logging road spur up the drainage. It peters in and out from obvious to backcountry skier herd path. I think I was more on the skier path than the road. From the antler I dropped into the drainage bed and rode that for a good distance. For safety purposes, I will leave out the rest. Don't attempt this unless you seriously know what you are doing. This is a very dangerous slide.
Popped up on the viewpoint and scared some folks. Very tough whack, mentally and physically, but was awesome. Not one I'll be doing again anytime soon :P |
