| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Ravine Lodge Road has lots of parking for hikers, it just depends on how far you have to walk to the trail. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
All either bridged or step-overs. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
At least a half-dozen blow downs on Al Merrill Loop, plus some snapped off tree tops and a clogged water bar. The other trails were all in excellent condition. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw some at the summit and a couple on Beaver Brook Trail. Dogs would be happy on any of these trails. |
| Bugs: |
Solid, steady breeze today kept them away at all locations except right at the car. |
| Lost and Found: |
Found peace and tranquility on they way up, lost it on Beaver Brook Trail, then found it again on the return trip down. |

| Comments: |
Not sure why Al Merrill Loop and Asquam-Ridge Trail don't get much love on the trail reports, unless it's the extra length to the summit, but this route was an easy grade most of the way with the steepest sections being on Beaver Brook Trail. Only 2 people met on Asquam-Ridge Trail today, in the final 1.5 miles to the parking area. Compare that to the 50-100 people on Beaver Brook Trail and the summit. Gorge Brook Trail looked very busy as viewed from the summit with a steady stream of people.
Absolutely gorgeous day on the summit, although the wind was a bit strong and chilly above tree line. Small price to pay for near-perfection after the weather this spring. |
