Nobody there when we arrived at 7:30 AM. Nearly full when we left. Tripoli Rd in good shape until 1/2 mile before trailhead, from I93 side. Just have to watch out for the occasional protruding rock. |

Eaay rock hop, but shorter folks may get a wet foot still. Not really enough good stepping stones to cross. |

Several blowdowns. One big step over and one crawl under up between NW peak and main summit. Quite muddy in spots, especially down low; could have used more stepping stones. |

Saw a few having a good time. |

 | Bugs: |
You get a bug! And you get a bug! And you get a bug! Bug spray kept them mostly off (except my ears, they fly right in this year!) but required several applications, and in the afternoon, the Insect Air Force was out in full force. Also, as the first folks on the trail, we got plenty of spider webs to the face in the morning. Also saw nature at work with a trapped fly in a web, but applied LNT / the Prime Directive and left him to his fate. I guess his 100,000 cousins that flew by my ear today will have to fill in. :) |

Interesting approach from N side. Has a little of everything: flat, gentle, moderate, steep, even a brief mini scramble. Vista at summit had clear views. Quite the dip into the col after NW summit... unusual to face such a stiff climb on a single peak out and back hike. Only saw about 15 people, excluding the summit. |
