 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Pretty good trailhead/kiosk, has a couple maps on it, etc. |
 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Significant, Leaves - Significant/Slippery |
 | Recommended Equipment: |
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Coming back on Summit Trail West, there's a very wet, black mucky section that Really needs a logbridge or some big rocks to walk across on. It's over a mile in and after the Split. You could easily lose a shoe or boot in this one. |
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails were all great, as usual. Couple of them wind around in a strange pattern-Scot's trail for example crosses the Summit Trails at least 3 times. But the maps are good and help. Blazes and all that are fine. Some of the lower signage needs to be upgraded. Missing info. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
 | Bugs: |
Use the bugdope going up, you are going around a couple beaver ponds and the blackflies are thick there. |

Link, Summit Trail East, Summit Trail West, Link. Did the loop.
Hiked up the Link and then Summit Trail East, going uphill along the three-knob ridge-crest. Great views from all three-four outlooks. Was surprised at how rough it was going down from the W end of the ledges right where Upper Link trail heads off towards the Summit and Shannon's Trail. You will want to be careful with the footing and use a walking stick or poles. After you clamber down a half mile or so the last of the major dropoffs stop and it's back to flat stuff in the evergreens. It's a 5.8m loop, and worth taking. Crotched is another smaller 2000 footer that offers plenty of bang for your viewing buck. |
