Quite a nice hike. No snow/monorail, which is one of the benefits of doing a lower elevation hike in the spring. The bugs could be bad in some parts of the trail, but you kind of expect that at this time of year. The parking lot (Piper trailhead) had a few cars in it when I got there around 8am, and was completely full when I descended around 2pm. It was cloudy until after noon, so that probably discouraged more people from starting this hike early. I was pleasantly surprised by how few people I saw during my loop (starting at the Piper trailhead, going up to the Sisters, then down the Libery/Hammond/Weetamoo trail) until I got to the summit. The views were gorgeous, even though it was cloudy up top. |
