Quiet day on Lafayette, I saw 2 people at the summit when I was ascended via the Garfield Ridge trail; but had the summit to myself when I got there. I could see the rain and clouds coming in from a distance so I didn't stay too long. Skookumchuck had 3 patches of monorail ,the longest maybe 100 feet , was frozen enough to walk up, short enough that spikes were not necessary. One big blow down that needs to be cut and removed from trail , one leaner , otherwise great trail with some debris from winter but great footing, beautiful water flowing with all the rain. Perfect day for solo hiking, some trail running and watching the beautiful clouds over our gorgeous mountains ! Got pelted on by hail less then 1/2 mile to my car .Spring is here , saw many flowers including a pink Lady slipper!Happy Hiking ! |
