Although it was overcast and misty, it was a nice day out in the mountains. No bugs, no rain, no hot sun, comfortable hiking conditions with the exception of a few slippery rocks. No views at the top but a different kind of beauty with the fog hanging in the trees and the gray jays socializing with us. Only traces of snow near the top, otherwise a little muddy in places, dry for most of it. Trail could use some maintenance by way of strategically placed rocks through the muddy sections but otherwise in good shape. All water crossings were manageable. We checked out the crossing on the old trail. The water was about mid-calf deep but the stream had a good rock hopping path. My hiking partner was fortunate to find her hiking boots which she had stashed and forgotten to pick up on her way down last weekend. A very pleasant day. Glad the shoulder season has finally come to an end. |
