Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked just before the gate at the end of New Colony Road. A car could probably venture as far as the next gravel pullout but would not recommend any further until it gets drier. A pickup truck made it all the way to the trailhead for Mowglis but a second larger, noisier and bigger vehicle came up after him and pretty much ruined any of the softer sections.

Comments
Comments: Decided to walk all the way up Orange Cove Road/Trail from the gate and glad we did as it is still pretty wet in spots. At the height of land near the trails for Mowglis and Firescrew, we cut across the field into the woods heading straight, or so we thought, for the summit of Catalouchee. We managed to get a little off our heading while winding through some thick basswood and other new growth. Took a new heading once we got up on the ridge and headed straight for the summit. Woods were much clearer from here to the summit. Signed the summit register and took a direct heading down to the road, clear woods all the way! Managed to miss any rain but we were still soaked to the skin from the damp air and tree branches!
