Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Little East Pond, East Pond, NH
Trails
Trails: East Pond Trail, Little East Pond Trail, East Pond Loop
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, June 2, 2019
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: My Corolla had no issues making it to the trailhead (which is well signed from Tripoli Road). Just take it slow (I went ~20 mph most of the time). Everyone should drive slower on Tripoli Road - there were a few larger vehicles barreling down it at >30 mph as I was coming up.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Several on Little East Pond Trail, but none were difficult - they were all just one or two step rock hops. One other one on East Pond Loop that was also easy. A major crossing on East Pond Trail has a very nice bridge.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There was clear evidence of trail work (mostly blowdown removal) in several places - thank you! Water bars on East Pond Trail were mostly working well, though the trail was still muddy just before them. All trails were easy to follow.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw two. Probably a good hike for them - there's plenty of water.
Bugs
Bugs: Some at the trailhead, a few in the lower parts of East Pond Trail as I was coming down, none elsewhere.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: A pair of work gloves were left on the kiosk at the trailhead. There was also a pair of swimming goggles in a shrub at East Pond.

Comments
Comments: This is a nice easy, scenic loop that can be done in 3 hours or less. All of the trails were wet and muddy in places, but none were too bad. Due to the fog, I didn't get views from either Little East Pond or East Pond, but I'm sure the views are excellent when visible. Lots of moose droppings on both Little East Pond Trail and East Pond Loop. Several flowers were blooming, including trillium and another white one that I didn't know the name of.
