Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, June 1, 2019
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: No problem getting a spot at 7am. Lot was full and cars were parked on Zealand Road when I returned a little after noon.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Hale Brook crossings easily able to be rock-hopped. Whitewall Brook crossing was easy (surprisingly mellow flow for this time of year).
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lots of evidence of very recent maintenance work done on Hale Brook Trail (fresh wood chippings, rake(?) marks on the water bars). Whoever the maintainer(s) is/are of this trail, did a fantastic job! One section of Lend-A-Hand had some massive destruction on it. It's been almost 2 years since I've been on that trail, so no idea when that damage happened (Halloween 2017 storms?).
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw to that looked like they were enjoying themselves.
Bugs
Bugs: Shockingly not an issue. No idea why, but I won't complain. Almost completely bug-free until the very end where they were swarming back at the parking area.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: N/A

Comments
Comments: Hale Brook Trail is completely free of snow from top to bottom.
Lend-A-Hand Trail has one patch of snow at ~4025' which will probably be gone in a couple of days. It's no more than 2 or 3 steps. The rest of the trail is very wet and muddy right now.
Twinway is clear of snow up to Zeacliff. Recent reports indicate there is still snow above Zeacliff and more on Twinway heading to Guyot/S Twin.
