Comments
Comments: Go now if you like flowers. We always go to the Waterville area this time of year - trillium, violets, hobble brush. Saw lady slippers that should bloom in the near future. Rerouted sections of Greeley Ponds Trail are gravel, good for bikes (watch for them). Never a really steep or difficult hike. There is a large gravel bank along Timber Camp Trail, excellent views of Osceola, the Tri's, Mad River Notch. Further up there is a mucky area with water on the trail (if not seasonal, bog boards or stones may be a good addition here). Shortly after is the clearing, where the trail officially ends. Large cairn, rusty old artifacts from the bad old days. The trail goes further, not officially maintained. Follow it and you will get partially obstructed views of the Osceola cliffs. Wait another few weeks and you will get NO views of the Osceola cliffs (leaves will be grown). The descent is even nicer, because as you leave the clearing, go through a wooded area, you suddenly come out to the fantastic views from the gravel area. Great little hike. Go now!
