We followed the woods road which is wide and barely overgrown to a fork (blue diamonds v. yellow diamonds). We took the right (blue diamonds) fork and followed it moderately uphill to a marshy area where the red diamond trail leaves to the right. It bypasses the marsh plus takes you to some really great views atop some ledges. Pretty woods in this section. We rejoined the blue trail, by turning right and continuing towards the summit. At the next set of ledges the trail was now marked with painted yellow blazes all the way to the summit cairn. No jar to be found so we hung one just below the summit. On the way down, we followed the yellow paint, blue diamonds, red diamonds and blue diamonds to a junction with the yellow diamond trail which we figured would take us back to the other side of the fork we had come to near the beginning of our hike. And it did: just be sure to continue straight when the yellow trail splits straight or right. |
