Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Kinsman Ridge Trail from the Kinsman Pond campsite over the ridge towards Cannon was very rugged, lots of blow downs.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Not an advisable hike for dogs unless experienced, avoid going down Fishing Jimmy with dogs during wet season. Lonesome lake is great dog hike, Kinsman Ridge and spur trail back down to Lonesome Lake very wet, slippery rocks and large drops. Saw a dog at the Kinsman Pond campsite who seemed to be having a great time however, unsure how it did going down fishing jimmy.

Comments
Comments: Very wet, big mud patches, and rugged hike once you get past Lonesome hut. Some dry spots however so the whole hike is not muddy, was able to avoid mud 75% of the time. Fishing Jimmy trail was wet (but fun!) to go up, short enough. Would not want to come back down in this wet/muddy season. You are climbing up waterfalls. The Kinsman Ridge Trail is very rugged with some nice view points, however most of the ridge between the campsite and the spur trail back to Lonesome Lake is below trees. You do not need to bring any spikes or snow shoes, but ensure you have waterproof boots and/or many changes of socks. On Sunday/Monday there were some patches of snow that were hard enough to walk over, but enough has melted that you can stay on trail and walk around. Tons of rock scrambles, slabs that involve slow going since everything is wet with water running down. Big patches of mud that involve jumping and some fun maneuvers, but overall a fun hike if you are looking for an obstacle course. Would not recommend bringing dogs on this hike, although there was a dog at the campsite who came up the Kinsman Pond Trail who seemed to do OK, but was going down the Fishing Jimmy Trail which I personally would not advise at this time unless they are an experienced hiking dog. Kinsman Pond is beautiful and the campsite was not crowded.
